Understanding Important Aspects Of Retention Will Help Guide You To More Effective Personal Branding
Understanding how your prospects retain your message will allow you to design more effective marketing strategies and techniques. Taking action on these principles is one of the keys to your succes as an internet marketer.
It makes no sense for you to keep watching training webinars and attending daily or weekly training calls if you keep forgetting what was shown or said. You will never get your business off the ground if you do not put the training from your team into action. Anything less and I guarantee that within a month, you will be suffering from paralysis by analysis, getting stuck attending all the training calls and webinars but not actually doing anything. Soon, attending such training does not remain an income producing activity because you don’t put the training to action, and you end up quitting your internet business or stop marketing your affiliate program.
Let me give you some quick numbers. As people, we retain:
- 10% of what we read,
- 20% of what we hear,
- 30% of what we see,
- 50% of what we hear and see,
- 70% of what we say, and
- 90% of what we say and do.
Wow! 90% retention by both saying and doing! Now what does this mean? It means the next time you are on a training call or webinar from your business system (or play an archive recording from your back office), take notes on 1 or 2 things related to a specific topic you can take action on. Then GO DO IT! Then record a video about it and SAY IT! Do … and … say. I guarantee that the little piece of effective marketing you applied is now learned and can be tweaked for more effectiveness and taught to your team or downline as you become a leader and authority in your market.
How do you think my main internet business and real estate investing business started booming over the Summer of 2009? In May, I started doing the techniques I outlined in my free Social Media Marketing Guide course then in August, I created a bunch of video tutorials and taught what worked for me. I took action then I taught, further retaining what I learned. All I do now is tweak what works to make it better and what doesn’t work to get it producing good results. Even in my real estate business, I teach a monthly class on short sale negotiating. Now it’s your turn to go do something constructive for your business.
